Hipster Menu Generator

Seven Laws of Artisanal Dining, written as logic. Every menu clingo finds obeys all of them: ramps are mandatory, nothing appears twice, and the more pretentious a dish is, the more it costs.

The Laws of Artisanal Dining

The program never says how to write a menu. It lists the vocabulary, lets clingo choose, and forbids anything that breaks a law:

  1. No ingredient appears twice anywhere on the menu.
  2. Every dish has a buzzword: foraged, pickled, heritage, fermented, house-made, or local. On the menu, the buzzword is underlined.
  3. Ramps are mandatory.
  4. At most one dish is deconstructed. We're not animals.
  5. Every large plate costs more than every small plate.
  6. Each cocktail gets its own spirit, vessel, garnish and name, and at least one involves smoke.
  7. Prices go up with pretension: $8, $18 or $11 plus the pretension of everything on the plate or in the glass.

Most pretentious adds one line, a #maximize over total pretension, and shows each better menu as clingo finds it. Proving nothing beats the best one takes far longer than anyone should wait, so it stops after a few seconds.
